English 원문
Night settled over the quiet apartment block, and Robin unfolded a narrow ladder toward the communal rooftop. The week’s newspapers rustled across the concrete while a whimsical ribbon of cloud drifted above the city lights. Robin had spent the afternoon testing a new lens, and the tripod had been assembled from lightweight aluminum to keep every gram steady. Tonight’s goal looked simple: capture the first bright meteor of the Perseid shower. A passing satellite already sliced a silver line across the dark canvas, so the camera began a slow exposure. Robin’s shoulders lifted while waiting, yet thicker cloud soon spilled over the ridge of nearby towers, smudging the stars and turning the screen milky.
Rain never arrived, yet the mist lingered like smoke, refusing to part. Robin shifted the setup twice, first toward the western rail, then beside an old water tank where a bowl containing a single goldfish glimmered under a dim bulb; someone from the floor below must have left the pet to catch fresh air. If the clouds had cleared earlier, the first shot would have been easy, but moisture now fogged the lens, and the spare battery had been forgotten downstairs. Fingers tapped empty pockets, then tightened the camera strap. A small ceramic unicorn, bleached by years of sun, stood beside the bowl, its horn reflecting the weak light. Robin wiped the glass, replaced the battery, and prepared another attempt.
The timer clicked again just as a breeze tipped the water slightly, spreading concentric rings across the bowl. Starlight, city neon, and the sharp white horn merged inside those ripples. The satellite reappeared, tracing a streak that matched the curve on the water. When the exposure ended, the screen revealed something rare: the meteor trail arched above a watery halo where the goldfish hovered beneath a shimmering, unicorn-shaped reflection. No single element dominated the frame; together they formed a unique experience that daylight could never repeat. On the rooftop table, the finished photograph rested beside the cooling camera.
