Soft salt air rolled over water that slipped past sandbars.

He stepped back, but a loose seashell rolled beneath his heel and tipped him sideways.

Grabbing a rope coil, he steadied himself while the pencil paused midair.

A swell lifted the lifeboat, its rope slackened, and the craft swung behind the station.
