Being proactive, she explained the mix-up. The hostess could only place her on a waiting list already filled by other hopeful groups. Ten minutes crawled by, then twenty; a draft crept under the door, and the list remained unchanged. If Mira had accepted the error, Leo would have walked in to find nothing but apologies. Instead, she scanned the building and spotted a narrow rooftop balcony once used for deliveries. Its rusty gate had been left unlocked, and two foldable tables leaned against the wall.
