Lanterns Beyond the Kiln-

English 원문
Mira entered the repurposed glassworks at noon, sketchbook tucked beneath one arm. Compressed air hissed from a blow molding rig near the doorway, each burst swelling molten tubes into clear vessels. The industrial rhythm mixed with birdsong drifting through cracked roof panes, a stark juxtaposition that already begged for charcoal lines. Rumor spoke of a limestone grotto at the rear of the hall, half-hidden behind temporary displays. Reaching it would give her the shade and dripping echoes she needed for a quieter drawing.
A loose crowd wandered between pallets of finished bottles. Sunlight sliced through dusty beams, yet fans tossed cool drafts across the floor, creating a mild disparity between glare and chill. Near a lemonade stand, a cup toppled; citrus liquid spread underfoot. Mira’s boot slid, forcing her knees to bend sharply. Pencils scattered across the planks. She steadied herself on a crate, then gathered the rolling graphite before the tide of visitors nudged them farther away. Once upright, she threaded toward a steel archway where a volunteer guide in a bright sash indicated an unmarked corridor with a simple tilt of her hand.
The passage narrowed, machinery hum fading behind brick. Farther along, tropical palms rose in pots, their fronds brushing fluorescent tubes overhead. In this corridor, the previous clamor surrendered to drip and stir. A dangling work lamp flickered, its cable snagged on a crate. Mira raised the lamp, freeing the cord. Light spilled onto a recessed panel; hinges clinked as the panel shifted outward, revealing a stone cavity beyond. She stepped through, discovering a grotto no larger than a garden shed. Water beads traced the walls, and broken glass orbs littered the floor, their surfaces mirroring the glow.
A wooden rack leaned against the far rockface, supporting several unlit paper lanterns. Each lantern carried fragments of green and cobalt glass, leftovers from earlier demonstrations, so the grotto itself became an odd gallery. When Mira lifted one lantern, trapped air escaped with a dull pop, nudging others to sway. Their motion set prismatic shards trembling; spots of color danced across the damp ceiling and the pool beneath it calmed into a silent mirror. Pale light rested on the damp stone wall.
