Lila Before the Breeze Shifted-

English 원문
Lila balanced a homemade cardboard glider under her arm while crossing the meadow behind the school. She had spent the morning trimming the wings, and each edge had been measured by the thin ruler from art class. Finally, she paused to tuck in the flaps with careful thumbs and pressed the last crease flat. Cattle watched from a shaded corner, tails flicking whenever insects brushed their hides. A distant bell rang; the picnic blankets unfolded near the oak tree. The open field looked wide enough for real flight. A playful breeze tugged at her hair, writing invisible paths above the grass.
Milo, the class gadget fan, jogged over first and traced a slow circle around her launch spot. Several classmates began to gather around, their sandals sinking into the soft turf. When Lila released the glider, the nose dipped, sliced a loop, and landed in a patch of buttercups. If the breeze had held steady, the first flight might have lasted longer. She retrieved the crushed tip, straightened the cardboard, and shifted the weight with a paper clip. A quiet gatherer collecting seed heads nearby lifted an eyebrow but kept working. On the second throw, a sudden gust drove the craft toward the group of cattle. The move startled a calf and forced Lila to sprint after it.
For her third attempt, she had already folded a sharper tail, and the paper clip had been moved nearer the center. The classmates waited at a distance this time, their hands cupped above their eyes. Lila wished she had brought string to reel the glider back, yet she still raised it high and let go. The craft caught a calmer current, banked over the meadow, and glided straight toward the wildflower basket. The surprised gatherer stepped aside as the glider landed inside the loose petals. The impact tipped the basket and released a shower of color into the air. Children dashed under the drifting petals, laughing as they tried to snatch them. Bright petals rested across the grass, and the cardboard glider lay beside them.
