Matteo and the Breezy Fair-

English 원문
Matteo reached the riverside fair just after noon, a cardboard tube balanced against his shoulder and charcoal dust still clinging to his fingertips. Food stalls formed a bright corridor; banners flapped, and music from a busker ricocheted between tents. He joined the line near the information booth where several people in matching shirts sorted pamphlets with brisk hands. The crowd’s motion pressed and released like tidewater, and his own steps drifted with it. On a whim he stepped out of the queue when a splash of orange beside a compost bin caught his eye. A single tulip had slipped from a bouquet, its stem unbroken. Matteo lifted it carefully, turning the bloom toward sunlight as if searching for extra pigment hidden inside each petal’s vibrant fold.
A gust curled along the pathway, twirling dust and napkins. The wind whisked a paper plate against his calf, and he shifted to shake it off. At that moment an iridescent insect settled on the tulip’s rim, its wings flickering like thin glass. Startled, Matteo pivoted; the cardboard tube slid, unrolled, and his poster—hours of dawn sketches layered in soft pastels—spilled across the brick. One corner folded under his shoe, creasing sky-blue shading. A volunteer from the booth lunged to help, but another swirl of air slapped the poster flat again before her fingers arrived. The beetle lifted, circled, and landed once more, this time right in the middle of a pale cloud drawn at sunrise. Its tiny feet pressed dots into the chalk, scattering powder outward in a loose spiral.
Matteo crouched, palms bracing the paper, and the beetle skittered away, leaving specks that resembled a planned constellation. He rotated the sheet, noticing how the accidental spiral echoed the tulip’s inner pattern. A second decision followed the first: he dragged the bloom across the pastel sky, blending orange into violet until a new horizon blushed across the page. Murmurs rose behind him as passersby paused; their footsteps slowed, then resumed, carrying the fair’s rhythm forward. Matteo slid the finished poster back into its tube, pinched the tube’s cap tighter, and carried both flower and drawing to the presentation table near the stage. Across the table, the smeared paper rested under a small stone while the insect traversed its edge.
