Bright light filled the small studio.

Noah set a round cake on a low table. He wanted to explore simple painting today. He dipped a brush and began careful strokes around frosting. Paint pots stood by his elbow. A small fan hummed, moving light air. A sudden cough shook him, and his elbow bumped the palette. Red paint slid off and splashed the fresh picture. The brush dropped, knocking a cup of water onto paper.

Water spread, carrying red lines across background. Noah blinked and turned the paper sideways. The red arcs now shaped great rising hills. He added blue dots above, shaping small birds in sky. Yellow streaks followed, becoming warm daylight over the hills. Green touches filled empty corners beside the hills. Soon the spoiled cake study became a bright landscape. His shoulders relaxed as classmates crowded around the table. He placed the new painting on the drying rack.
