English 원문
Lily and Ben carried a hand-painted wooden boat toward the park pond, planning to honor a quiet tradition that began in early spring. Their stroll along the gravel path slowed when a group of geese spread across the narrow bridge. Warm sunlight flickered through new leaves, and ripples tapped softly against the stone edge beyond the birds. Rain has painted the wooden boards a darker brown, so Lily watched her step. One goose flapped suddenly, and a significant splash jumped over the railing, sprinkling their shoes. Ben balanced the boat with both palms, while Lily shifted the folded rope that had been fastened to its stern.
When the birds drifted aside, the friends crossed and reached the far bank. Ben knelt first. He eased the boat onto the glassy water, then released the rope. A playful gust worked against the craft and pushed it toward tangled reeds. Without waiting, Ben delved his arm into the cool water, but his fingers met a hidden branch instead. The branch lifted, and a small metal circle glimmered at its tip. Lily blinked as a glorious badge, green and silver, rose into daylight beside the dripping boat. They exchanged wide smiles; the badge had probably rested there since last year’s fair. Ben set it on the grass, pulled the boat back, and the pond settled into quiet rings.
