Morning light filled the empty picnic area. A small raccoon stepped from the thick green bushes. His nose twitched toward a wooden table ahead. A cool slice of omelet rested on a plate. The soft egg layer broke into two uneven warm pieces. He caught a piece and hurried toward the bushes. Later, shiny black ants filled the plate, lifting tiny crumbs away. Branches parted, and the raccoon vanished among shadowed leaves. Quiet covered the wide wooden picnic table and wet bench.
