English 원문
Dim afternoon light slanted through dusty skylights and painted long rectangles across the hall's timber floor. Lucas balanced on a narrow ladder because he wanted the large forest relief map to hang straight above the display table. Mira steadied the frame from below, her palms pressing against rough plywood that carried grooves shaped like vanished tree trunks. Their shared goal appeared simple, yet the warped upper edge refused to meet the hook even after several careful lifts. A row of color-coded bins for waste sorting occupied the corner, leaving little room, so Lucas pivoted the ladder sideways. Tomorrow’s seminar on resource management would occupy the hall, and unfinished exhibits already crowded the floor between crates. Mira lifted a rubber mallet to tackle the stubborn frame, and gentle taps echoed across steel beams overhead.
The mallet loosened one joint, yet the opposite corner sagged suddenly, sending a small cascade of sawdust along Lucas’s sleeve. He climbed down, turned the map over, and discovered two missing screws hidden beneath a curled label about regional deforestation patterns. Fresh screws gripped the wood better; however, the frame now tilted forward because the floorboard beneath the table rocked slightly. While they shifted the table, Mira spotted a green sprout pushing through a narrow crack where the plank had separated. Neither tool nor plan explained the sprout; moisture from a leaking pipe had fed that tiny piece of the ecosystem below. They cut a thin wedge from scrap pine, slid it under the table leg, and the surface finally stood level. Lucas lifted the map once more, his shoulders tightening, and the hook clicked into place without another slip or scrape. Sawdust settled around the sprout, and soft light rested on the finished display.
