English 원문
Leo stepped under the park pavilion at noon, wiping dust from a metal control box near the empty flower beds. The roof panels had lost most of their shine, and last summer’s posters had curled into pale ribbons. Grass pushed between cracked tiles where a ring of sprinkler heads waited like silent trumpets. The city planned a small festival that evening, and Leo wanted the water feature working again; a cool arc of spray could lighten the air for visitors. He had promised no one, yet the idea pulled him closer. The control lever beside the pillar looked stiff, but he gripped it anyway.
The first pull produced only a cough inside the pipes. Leo pressed his ear against the box; nothing followed. He traced the buried line until it disappeared behind a stack of boards. A second lever hid there, marked by an oily smudge where some forgotten mechanic once rested his wrench. He pushed in a different sequence: left, up, then down. A thin hiss arrived, then brown water spat once and stopped. He knelt, prying a sprinkler cap with a twig to loosen packed soil. Mud oozed out, yet the nozzle stayed blocked. Wind swirled dry leaves across the floor, and clouds edged above the roof.
A sudden afternoon shower crossed the park before Leo reached the next nozzle. Heavy drops slipped through cracks in the pavilion roof and drummed on the sprinkler heads. Dirty water flushed over his hands, clearing the grit he could not reach. When the rain eased, he tried the first lever again. This time the pipes answered with a steady rumble. One sprinkler spun, another lifted, and a bright ribbon of water rose high before curving over the broken tiles. Not every head joined the display, but the arch glimmered in fading light. A thin arc of water hung above the cracked tiles, swinging gently in the breeze.
