Milo pushed a short plank under a leaning crate. He hoped to lift the crate and reach a jar. The plank slid, struck a tin bowl, and rang loudly. The bowl hit a stack of sticks near the wall. The sticks toppled toward a plastic dish filled with water. A startled newt jumped from the dish and wriggled across floorboards. Milo jumped back, dropping his net beside the doorway. The metal rim bounced and pressed against a loose broom handle. The handle tipped, bumping a basket of dry leaves down.

Leaves scattered, landing on a cage that covered young sprouts. The light frame slid, freeing a small wooden ramp. The ramp dropped, rolling a round stone toward the open door. Outside, gentle rain touched the ground near the quiet lake. Cool air drifted under the trees nearby. The stone raced downhill, pushing wet soil into tiny grooves. Mud gathered speed and rushed toward a low canvas shelter. Milo sprinted, grabbed a spade, and dug a shallow trench. The trench caught the flow and sent water around the shelter. A rabbit, calm herbivore, sniffed scattered food pellets nearby. Milo laughed and wiped rain from his cheeks. Thin ripples moved outward across the flooded trench.

落葉四散，落在覆蓋嫩芽的籠子上。輕框滑動，放開一條小木坡道。坡道落下，讓一顆圓石向開著的門口滾去。屋外，細雨落在安靜湖邊的地面。涼爽的空氣在樹下飄動。圓石衝下坡，把濕泥推進細細的溝。泥流加速，直奔低矮的帆布棚。米洛衝過去，抓起鏟子，挖出一條淺溝。淺溝接住泥水，把水導到棚子旁邊。一隻溫順的兔子這位草食動物，低頭聞著散開的飼料顆粒。米洛笑了，抹去臉上的雨水。細小的漣漪沿著被淹的溝渠向外擴散。
