Vera carried bowls into the dining room for a special lunch.

A light bread smell floated under the ceiling.

Her family waited outside, forming a small crowd near the table.

Sudden sunlight entered the long room and formed wide gold bands.

A tiny mouse darted from the bread basket, then froze in light.

A cloud crossed the sun, and the bright strips disappeared.

Dim floor let the mouse race under a chair and sniff crumbs.

Sunlight returned, and the mouse stopped beside a leg again.

Vera watched the pattern, bright then dim, bright then dim again.

In the next bright spell, she slid a box across the floor.

The box blocked every path except one line toward the open door.

Sunlight still shone, so the mouse stayed quiet near a leg.

Soon another cloud rolled, and soft shadow covered the wooden boards.

The mouse hurried along the lane and slipped onto garden bricks.

Bright light returned, and the small visitor paused outside the room.

Vera reached for the plates again and walked toward her waiting family.

Faint dust drifted where the box touched the sunny floor.

強光回到房內，那位小訪客停在門外。

薇拉重新拿起盤子，走向正在等候的家人。

箱子接觸的地方揚起微小灰塵，在陽光下緩緩漂浮。
