She gathered the scattered pieces, re-threaded the hinge, and adjusted the lamp so its glow would cater to that new, hidden tiger rather than erase it. When she finally ducked under the frame, the audience side remained empty, but two shadows lay on the cloth: the familiar tiger and its sliver twin, both waiting. Flora closed the backstage door; wood met jamb with a muted thud, and the twin shape kept breathing on the screen while her footsteps faded down the narrow stair.
