English 원문
Sun-heated pine sap mixed with lake weed drifted over the dock, sharp and sticky, before Olive even set her tackle box on the warm planks. Afternoon glare flashed across the dark-green surface, then broke into flickers under the willow’s restless shade. Wade waited beside the mooring post; leafy silhouettes swept over his back while he balanced a rod across his knees. Between them sat a small plastic jar—fifteen pale grubs that still glimmered in the direct light. They had planned to land three fish for supper in their quiet district, and the target felt simple enough. Olive had already tied a sinker, and habit made her thumb the knot twice. With one smooth arc she sent the float toward the shaded mid-dock water. The line brightened as it sank, then stopped dead; the hook bit unseen weed. Wood creaked under her shifting weight, and unmoving darkness pooled beneath the snag.
When the hook eased free at last, the soft bait was gone and twelve grubs remained. The brightness around them softened; a wider glow rose behind the roofs across the lake, and feeding time thinned like late frost. A breeze pushed the float toward the rope-wrapped post, and Wade reeled fast, but the spinning spool spat a jagged loop that tangled round the handle. While he picked at the knot with careful fingernails, more minutes leaked away. Olive crossed to the shore equipment area, passing low brambles where underbrush rustled in the dim side light. Five grubs sat in the jar now, so she chose the smallest; catching even one fish would do. Wade freed the coil, and Olive pressed the bait along the small hook. She stepped well back so her shadow left the water clear, then guided the rod forward. The float touched the dimming surface and stayed in place, rocking under the slow slide of dusk.
