English 원문
A clean ring of dust circled an empty spot on the felt pad. Lily leaned closer, her wrist bending so the back of her fingers brushed the warm table, and followed the outline. The missing piece turned up two steps away, wedged behind the rubber mallet. She eased it free with both palms, feeling its weight tilt then balance. Light from the slow ceiling fan crossed the glaze, showing an array of colors. Amber near the rim mixed with olive at the middle. A pale blue swirl looked like buttercream spread across a birthday cake. To judge the piece, she tapped its foot with the dowel. The sound landed between ping and thud; vibration ran up her knuckles but faded too soon.
Unsure, she crossed the room toward the reference shelf where Reese arranged sample tiles for inventory. The bowl warmed her fingertips, so she shifted grip to keep it steady. She walked past stacked boxes already holding presents planned for the weekend. At the shelf she set the bowl beside a perfect cup and tried the mallet again. The hum from the kiln fan swallowed every tone. A rush of air flipped loose tissue at the wrapping station; sheets slid to the floor like soft cards. Lily placed the tools down and knelt to gather the drifting squares before they touched damp clay dust near the basin.
When she straightened, the fan had slowed and the room felt stiller. She returned to the shelf, noting the bowl’s surface had cooled; warmth no longer pulled at her palms. She rolled each shoulder, shifted her stance, and lifted the dowel again. One gentle tap sent a clear, thin ring that hung longer than a breath. Reese looked over with a brief nod, then turned back to the tiles. The earlier dullness had come from heat, not a crack. Cradling the bowl against her forearms, Lily stepped across the gritty floor, knees bending slightly with each careful stride. She paused by the felt pad. Lily lowered the confirmed bowl onto the ring that had been bare.
