English 원문
The tape across the bench armrest felt slick instead of the expected tacky pull under Ella’s thumb. Right beside it, a faint kink in the yellow strand marked where an earlier knot had slipped, like a tiny footprint on the smooth floss.
Ella and her friend Eve traded places at the shade-sun boundary, so the colours could be checked under both lights. A gull drifted above the lake’s old wooden wharf beyond the grass, while pigeons pecked near the bead container that rattled each time Eve nudged it. Since the bracelet’s inception the pair had followed a neat chevron plan, yet the new row now curved right. Extra tension on the left thread had bent the pattern, and the next glass beads refused to sit flat. If she had kept pulling every knot with the same sharp tug, the band would have stayed straight but too stiff for a wrist. Ella loosened three knots, felt them release with a soft breath, and noticed the curved section formed a shallow pocket that caught a stray bronze sparkle of sunlight.
An idea flickered: the pocket could hold a single copper bead as a clasp instead of lying perfectly flat. She pinched the loop, checking length against Eve’s wrist-test zone, while Eve steadied the taped threads so nothing slipped. The breeze lifted the loose ends, but the fresh angle kept the floss in order, and the pattern adjusted without another ripple. Ella was threading the copper bead through the new loop
