English 원문
A stalk of sugarcane, a striped backpack, and a glossy water bottle lay on the nearby bench, their owners already perched at the playground seesaw. Clara gripped the hot metal handle on the high end while Silas planted his trainers in the scuffed landing zone below. Their simple goal was audible: they wanted the plank to hover, not thud. The fulcrum answered each trial with a groaning creak, and the rubber bumper under Silas sighed whenever his side touched ground. Weight, not will, ruled the board; he was taller, and gravity favoured him. Clara had slid forward twice, drawing soft scrapes from the wood, yet the angle still dipped toward Silas. Imagination turned the tilting beam into a long ship in rough water, and she leaned inward again, knees brushing the warm surface. For a breath-long moment the creak paused, then the seesaw tipped back with another hollow bump.
Sun shifted, and a fresh patch of light crawled along the central pivot. Within minutes the handle beneath Clara’s palms burned hotter than a stove ring, forcing her to loosen her grip. She shook a scarf from the backpack; its silky texture slipped between her and the metal, muffling the vibration but also stealing some control. At the first bounce the fabric slid, and the plank yawed. Right then the fulcrum squealed at a higher pitch—the worn pin had been gouged unevenly by the unruly nature of countless rides—and the noise startled Silas into edging closer to the centre. The board rocked toward level again. Unexpectedly, a wandering gust—leftover breath from a distant hurricane that had lashed the coast days earlier—raced across the sand border, flinging dry grains onto Clara’s seat. The grit worked like tiny rollers; she skidded forward, equalising their weight. The seesaw floated almost even, and they stayed still, listening to the fading squeal that hovered in the summer air.
