She kneels by the low shelf.
Morning light crosses the mat.
The mat is springy under her knees.
Yannick sits nearby with a leaning tower.
"It is steady now," he says.
June lifts a soft cloth bag.
It crinkles and sags.
Under it, waxy crayon dust glints.
The specks tickle her nose.
She sets the bag back.
She flips a small picture book.
A page shows an ocean with blue waves.
The next page shows a fair with rides.
"I see bright carts and flags," June says.
A small car waits nearby.
She gives it a tiny nudge.
It rolls.
Its wheel spins, then stops.
June holds the rattling box.
She lifts the lid.
The edge sticks a little.
She turns and pulls one corner.
The lid pops loose.
Inside, blocks knock the sides.
A round wooden ring sits on top.
She closes the lid again.
A blue marble rolls in from the gap.
