The Humming Clothesline and the Ringing Basin -

English 원문
A thin ring rose from the metal basin near the folding table.
"What made that sound?" Zev lifted his head and stood on tiptoe.
Inez’s hands worked a shirt in warm water, and the slosh kept a rhythm.
Zev slid a dry cloth across the table and folded its corners together.
Each rub sent a small vibration through the basin, and the note changed.
A narrow board lay across two tubs like a bridge, and the basket rested there.
Steam touched his cheeks with gentle heat, and the soap smell sat low.
Moist tile felt cool under his toes, and his shirt stuck at the shoulders.
The board creaked when the basket shifted, and the rim gave a small ping.
"It sounds like a bell," Zev said, keeping his hands careful and dry.
Across the room, a clothesline tied to a wall cleat held light things.
Thin cloths hung still, and a faded postcard clipped there dried after a splash.
The knot on the cleat sat tight, and the line cut a straight path.
A faint hum ran through the tight line, and dry pegs rattled once.
Now and then, a drop struck the string and made a soft, quick click.
Inez lifted a wet sheet, and the basket slid a thumb’s width on the bridge.
Its edge tapped the basin rim, and the rim answered with a clear ring.
The note matched the line, and the line began to hum louder.
The postcard buzzed against its clip and slid a little toward the cleat.
Zev pointed with a damp finger. "It moved," he said, eyes wide at the shuffle.
Inez clipped a second pin, and the grip felt adequate without stopping the hum.
She set a towel on the rim, and the ring softened to a muffled note.
Water kept its slow slosh, and the line kept a lower, steady tone.
A small moth drifted through the open doorway and paused on a dry sleeve.
It lifted off, crossed the room once, and flew out past the hanging cloths.
Inez
Zev
Inez
Inez
