English 원문
“Who folded this cloth into a triangle on the shelf?” Yolanda slid her thumb along the crease and checked its edge.
Her other hand kept circling the Fresnel ring, the linen moving in a slow arc that matched the lens's patient rotation.
She watched a slice of water brighten, then fall away, and marked another flash against the leather ledger on the brass shelf.
Salt fogged the lower panes, but the upper glass swung its thin reflection across her sleeves with every measured glide.
The foghorn gave a hoarse, even blast that rolled beneath the glass, while the wind pressed and released with a gentle oscillation.
Between sweeps, a pale seam of current braided weed lines into a wavering ribbon, then unwound when darkness returned to that quadrant.
Up close, prismatic edges slid across her knuckles as the great lens turned on its mercury bath, whose viscosity damped little jolts.
The brass rail held a faint tremor that arrived precisely with each sweep, like a pendulum touching home and sailing out again.
A bead of lamp oil clung to the wick cap from earlier filling and wobbled, then settled, its tiny weight surrendering to inertia.
The desk microphone crackled; a chime from the radio panel rose and clipped, and her hand left the cloth without finishing the arc.
“Lantern room, Yolanda speaking; the sweep holds steady and the intervals match the ledger entry I marked just now,” she said into the grill.
“Copy received; all clear here,” answered the thin speaker, and the signal faded as the needle swung back to its resting position.
She set the microphone down, drew a short line in the margin, and numbered the flash that had just passed.
When she turned back, the light had swept another circle, and the linen hung over the ring with one damp corner cooling against glass.
Beside the ledger, a bronze funnel sat with its narrow mouth facing the beam, an unfamiliar angle that left a thin crescent of oil.
The crescent had crept from the lip and dried along the shelf's grain, a trace of time whose edge mirrored the lens's path.
Her wrist hovered; she rotated the cloth once, changed her grip, and watched prismatic colors skate over faint arcs scratched by years of wiping.
A pale crust rimmed the metal where sea salt had dried, flaking slightly when her fingertip brushed the cool ring.
She set the funnel upright, left it there, and returned her palm to the rail until the next tremor arrived through the metal.
Outside, the hoarse foghorn rolled again, and the beam skimmed the same seam of current as if counting a private rhythm.
Then the linen met the glass again, not in a long circle this time, but in shorter strokes that caught rainbow shards and released them.

- bronze
“A bronze funnel leaned toward the beam, its rim printing a thin crescent of oil along the brass shelf.”
- hoarse
“Below the glass, the foghorn released a hoarse, even call that rolled outward and steadied the watch.”
- viscosity
“The lens floated on mercury whose viscosity hushed stray tremors, letting each sweep arrive like a measured heartbeat.”
- funnel
“She righted the funnel, and the oil’s thin crescent dried, a quiet clockmark along the shelf’s grain.”
- current
“Between rotations, a pale seam of current braided weed lines, then loosened when the quadrant fell back into darkness.”
