English 원문
On the lens hood, a pale ring of dried droplets clung where last night's moisture had sat, visible only under the red-band lamp's slant. Greer kept one palm under the equatorial mount's dovetail while his other hand pinched the balance knob, and the camera's posture eased into alignment. The metal felt cool through his glove as the tracking head whispered, and the blanket's weave brushed his knees. Iris knelt beside the spread tools and checked the insulated drink container's cap without moving the light. Above the meadow's edge, first points pricked through the deepening blue, faint and exact against the quiet.
He pressed each leg lock and tested its firmness with a short push of the heel of his hand, then leaned to the screen. The live view scattered at first as the motor took hold; a breath later the points steadied, and correspondence between the sky's drift and counter-motion looked clean. Iris angled the long-wavelength lamp away, and their shadows shortened into the grass near the tripod's feet. Air ticked cooler along his wrist where his sleeve had pulled back, and the heater band's indicator glowed like a small ember around the lens barrel. He glanced across the blanket, counted the caps and cloths, then rolled one onto his pocket.
A corner lifted under a twitch of air and the folded paper jumped in place. The folded chart slid from the blanket's edge, skated over flattened blades, and turned once. Greer stepped after it, shoulders low, and caught the sheet where the inked grid met the margin.
He came back breathing a little harder, and the imaging body hummed on as the polar-aligned drive turned. On the screen, each bright point wore a soft skirt; moisture had begun to condense across the front element, and the outer rim looked glossy under the red. His fingers paused over the remote release before moving to the resistive lens collar; the band felt lukewarm, so he nudged its switch and let the warmth build. He swept the lens hood with a dry cloth and the ring from earlier cleared in a crescent, not a stain but a tide line from old dew. Iris held the blanket still with her knee, and he waited for the glass to clear, watching halos tighten as heat pushed the chill back.
The meadow settled around the two of them again, and the motor's rotation became a low stitch behind their breathing. Stars sharpened on the screen a notch at a time, steady enough for the interval they had been using. He slid the chart beneath the insulated drink container this time, checked the heater band's cable slack, and aimed the red-band lamp down. Iris shifted her posture on the blanket and tilted her head toward the high smear that crossed the field, and Greer set his thumb on the release. Greer pressed the shutter button on the remote and felt the motor's tone settle.
