Morning Paddle to the Sandbar-

Story Content
English Original
Soft light crossed the lagoon when Alex and Kayla lifted a narrow kayak. The equipment has been packed inside a blue dry bag behind Kayla's seat. They aimed to reach a sandbar where a tall heron stood among reeds. Waves pressed against the hull, yet the bird might fly at any second. They have watched the tide rise under the bridge many times, so timing felt tight. Paddles entered water together; drops glittered while the shoreline slid backward. Humidity wrapped the air, and faint salt covered their lips like sugar on fruit.
Kayla tried to hasten her strokes, and the bow punched small ripples aside. A silver dolphin burst nearby, spraying water over Alex's sleeves without warning. The sudden splash rocked the kayak; balance shifted, and both bodies leaned opposite directions. Their speed dropped, paddles paused, then resumed in shorter, slower loops that kept the vessel steady. The heron remained still, its thin legs hidden in foam, so the chance continued. Sand squeaked below the hull; the craft slid gently onto the bar, stopping by a patch of shells. Tiny fish flickered beneath the surface, catching brief columns of sunlight. Alex raised the camera, pressed the button, and the mechanical click echoed over calm water.
Translation
