Basket in the Meadow- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Morning light filled the wide meadow.

Lina carried a small basket toward the spring festival. Her goal was simple: give fresh berries to the pie stand. Soft grass brushed her shoes while birds chirped above. A sudden quack rose near the stream beside the path. A fluffy duckling waddled out and bumped Lina’s ankle. She stumbled; the basket tipped, and berries scattered over the ground. Several berries rolled through a low hedge.

On the other side, a young fawn sniffed the rolling fruit. It nibbled one, then trotted deeper into the meadow. Lina chased, yet tall grass slowed her run. The duckling followed, flapping tiny wings and peeping loudly. The noise startled the fawn, and it dropped the berry. Berry juice stained the grass, but Lina gathered the rest. She placed everything back into the basket and walked toward the path. At last, she reached the festival square, breath short yet steady. Colorful ribbons moved above musicians playing joyful tunes. She set the basket on the wooden table.

灌木另一側，一頭年幼的小鹿嗅著滾動的果實。它咬了一顆，接著跑向草地深處。麗娜追了上去，但高草放慢了她的腳步。小鴨跟在後面，拍動小翅膀，大聲啾啾。小鹿被聲響驚到，掉下嘴裡的莓果。莓汁染紅了草葉，麗娜把剩下的果子撿回籃中，然後走回小徑。終於，她抵達慶典廣場，呼吸急促卻平穩。彩色緞帶在音樂家上方飄動，悅耳樂聲洋溢。她把籃子放到木桌上。
