Milo arrived at his uncle's farm for a weekend visit. His small glove swung from his backpack with steady taps. He planned one thing: play ball near the empty barn. Warm sunlight rested on the quiet barn floor. A dusty bucket beside straw held their old baseball. He kicked it gently, and the ball rolled outside. It stopped behind a tall pile of autumn leaves. A wooden rake leaned nearby across the grass bank. Milo grabbed the handle and pushed leaves into swirling waves. Instead of the baseball, something silver flashed under the pile.

He lifted more leaves, and a small door appeared. He knelt, pressed the latch, and the door opened with a creak. Inside, three bright baseball cards rested beside forgotten bats. A fearless mouse dashed across the floor, shaking more dust. The cards lifted into the air and scattered over straw. Milo tried to manage the flying cards with quick swipes. One card landed on the baseball, finally stopping its escape. He lined old gloves around the yard as soft bases. Soon, his cousins ran outside, ready to run the bases. Milo tossed the ball, and laughter spilled over the grass.
