English Original
Beneath the steep roof, Leo pushed a loose board aside and entered the attic. Warm afternoon light pressed through a high pane. A faint smell of dry paper mixed with cool metal. He had promised himself a simple goal: bring down the red kite that had slept here for years. He has searched the attic since breakfast and found only cobwebs. A thin layer of dust had been left on every shelf, and a small dustbin stood near the stairs, already half-full. The box that blocked the far wall felt heavier than expected, so Leo slid it instead of lifting. Even that movement stirred old papers, and the quiet air answered with a cough of dust.
A sudden creak opened the window latch wider; cool airflow slipped through the crack. The sudden airflow turned the quiet room into a place of activity: ribbons fluttered, papers lifted, and the kite tail swung free. Shortly, one loose page landed on Leo’s shoulder. He caught it and discovered a tiny notebook trapped inside the kite frame. While checking the brittle cover, he tilted the kite; the box behind it settled back in place. Leo raised the kite high and gave a grateful nod toward the open window, as if thanking the push of wind. He placed the notebook in his pocket, closed the latch, and stepped onto the stair. Down below, dust floated slowly in the last stripe of light.
Translation
