Without thinking, her fingers pinched the edge differently, flattening the ridged surface before pulling. The strip slid away in a silent ribbon, straight and smooth, then pressed across the carton. A palm sweep chased trapped air, and the box stayed square. She set it atop the form pile, pinning the upper sheets so another gust could not revive their dance. A narrow flag of excess tape lifted and fell like a clear ribbon each time the door opened.
