Cool mud presses Palmer's foot.
A clear stream runs nearby.
Soft light dots the water.
Palmer steps toward a flat rock.
A spiral fossil circles its face.
Palmer walks past tall green ferns now.
A fallen wide log spans the bank.
Wet moss coats the whole log.
His shoe slides on wet moss.
He steadies on a tree low root.
He steps around the log slowly.
Across the water, Selwyn starts to talk softly.
Selwyn calls, "Look this way!"
Selwyn looks pleased and waves back.
Palmer heads back along the muddy edge.
Thin scratch marks line the log.
He nears the flat rock again.
Two beetles share cool shade.
The short walk stays fun.
