Troy and the Falling Pencils-

Story Content
English Original
Soft tapping drifts from the hallway.
Fresh laundry scent floats around.
Troy sits on the thick rug.
Iris holds a bright fruit book.
A stuffed goat lies high on a shelf.
She points but cannot reach it.
Grandmother's voice hums softly outside.
Troy nods and stands.
He drags a small pillow closer.
He climbs; knees wobble.
The pillow slides on the wood.
A dozen pencils clatter down.
Tap tap tap.
Colors roll across the rug.
Troy steadies the pillow.
He adds a round wooden block.
Sunlight slides across the fallen pencils.
Fine dust sparkles in the beam.
Outside the window, leaves sway slowly.
Now his hand touches the goat.
He lifts it down slowly.
He pats the soft neck.
Iris smiles and hugs it.
He says, "Got it."
All still.
He pats the soft neck again.
Translation
