Fine lines run under his hand.
He kneels on the thick rug.
A faint pencil mark sits on the wall.
A clean laundry smell drifts in.
Zane walks toward the low shelf.
A round wooden block sits nearby.
His toe bumps it.
It clacks.
He shifts his step around it.
Stuffed animals sit in a row.
Dust glows.
A soft bear paw touches the cup.
The pencils inside lean.
Pencils tap.
He moves on to the open door.
Bright hallway light rests beyond.
Grandfather sits on a hallway stool.
A small watering can sits beside.
"Good morning, Zane," he says.
Zane turns back into the room.
At the doorway, dark earth rims the pot.
He steps toward the shelf again.
A red pencil's bare tip points up.
He reaches the bed edge.
Two wrinkle lines meet on the pillow.
A tiny drop taps the pot.
