Mushroom Slides, Jacket Brushes -

Story Content
English Original
Steam curls above the noodles.
Linden sits close to the plate. His left palm rests on the placemat. The woven lines press under his hand. A faint circle stays on the mat. Across, the grandmother holds the bread basket rim. One slice leans at the basket edge. A mild tomato smell floats near.
Grated cheese softens on the sauce. Plate warmth thins its edges. Linden lifts his fork to a mushroom. The rounded prongs press and slide. A fork clinks. The piece slips from the fork. He twists once and captures a noodle. Corn pops free. He pins the soft mushroom now. Gritty cheese specks stick to it. Linden tastes the tomato sauce. The grandmother says, "Cheese smells milky today."
A kid in the next chair leans. Their fork rests across the rim. By the cup, a clear drop grows. It slides down to the placemat. Cool wet touches Linden's finger. The melted cheese spreads wider now. Small white lines fade into orange. An uncle's jacket brushes the placemat.
Translation
