English 原文
At eight on Saturday, Luis slips through a side gate of the riverside warehouse. He has promised to collect spare boards for the school workshop, so a satchel packed with a small saw, tape, and water rests on his shoulder. Some crates have been pushed against one wall, leaving a narrow track toward the lumber pile. Dust rises, and his boots slide. He shifts the satchel to hold its weight close, yet the frayed strap snaps. Tools clatter, turning the short walk into noisy exercise. While he kneels to gather them, a soft bleat rolls from deeper inside. His hands freeze above the floor, and his eyes follow the sound.
A single sheep steps from behind a stack of barrels that have been stored for years. Wool brushes splinters; wood clicks. The animal blocks the only exit wide enough for both of them. Luis studies the broken strap. He knots it into a loose loop, raises it sideways, and spreads his stance. Light spilling through the doorway reflects on the concrete, and the sheep wanders toward the brightness. Space opens. Luis scoops the last screwdriver into the satchel, then tightens his new grip. Boards knock against each other when he lifts them. The exit clears, footsteps cross the threshold, and the rusty door swings closed behind him.
