Norah on the Estuary Deck-

English 原文
Early afternoon light draped the low research barge as it eased away from the pier. Norah steadied her boots against the gentle swaying of the deck, the river pushing beneath like a patient animal. A line of orange buoys already floated behind the stern, each carrying a tiny sensor that blinked once when water touched its metal lip. Only one buoy remained in her crate, and three days of exploration along the estuary would reach clear fruition once it found its place. She lifted the bright sphere, felt its weight settle against her palm, and stepped toward the bow where a rope-lashed railing wrapped the edge like coarse thread on cloth.
Wind changed direction near mid-river, surprising her balance. The barge tilted, nothing dramatic, yet enough to tilt the crate’s lid. A small wrench slid across the plank, collided with her ankle, and made a short metallic plunge into the water. Norah crouched, fingers closing around the still-warm knot of rope meant for the final buoy. The missing wrench mattered; without it, the shackle on the buoy would refuse to close. She scanned the deck, spotted an older tool chest half-hidden beneath a coil of net, and tugged it open. Jumbled sockets rattled but one slender spanner fit the task. She exhaled, pressed the shackle, and felt the hinge snap into place.
A glint beside the hull drew her eyes before she released the buoy. Something bobbed—smooth glass circling in the eddy made by the barge’s engine. She slipped a boat hook between rail strands and lifted the object. It was a bottle, cloudy yet unbroken, a roll of paper sealed inside. Water drummed softly while she examined the discovery, then a gust tugged at her sleeves. The buoy nudged her shin as if reminding her of the unfinished task; she laughed under her breath, slid the bottle into a side pouch, and turned back toward the open water beyond the bow.
She leaned outward, swung the buoy, and let it drop. The sphere met the surface with a quiet splash, the tether unspooling until the sensor light winked alive. Ripples fanned outward, touching the earlier buoys one by one until distant reflections shifted in a broad curve behind the vessel. Norah coiled the empty line, secured it, and brushed river spray from her sleeves. Soft light lingered on the buoys, and the current eased while ropes rested against the rope-lashed railing.
