English 原文
Milo pushed a short wooden block toward the center of the classroom table. Jaya balanced a glass marble on top of a ruler that has been taped between two books. The science club has planned a small chain-reaction show for the afternoon event, and their corner already looks like a tiny city of objects. A scented marker lies open, so faint sweetness mixes with the dusty chalk smell that drifts from the board. They work in cooperative silence: one adjusts height, the other checks distance. The tallest domino, marked with blue paint, works as the leader piece. When it falls, the rest usually follows. For the plan to work, the pioneer marble leaves the ruler, passes a paper tunnel, and taps the first domino exactly on its edge.
Milo nudges the marble. It rolls, drops from the ruler, and strikes the tunnel wall. The light cardboard bends, so the marble veers left and misses the leader domino. Instead it bumps a pencil, which tumbles against a stack of coins. The coins slide like tiny wheels and knock over a plastic cup filled with beads. Beads scatter across the table and threaten to spill onto the floor. Jaya sees the spreading beads and slides her notebook under the cascade, creating an abrupt barrier. The notebook absorbs most of the rolling beads; only a few escape. Milo has already prepared a compromise: he flicks a second marble from the opposite side, and this one hits the leader domino squarely. A rapid row of rectangles clatters forward, and a lone pencil spun toward the table edge.
