English 原文
Leo nudged the first block on the science table, and the thin piece of wood tipped forward at once. He, a curious student, had arranged fifty more blocks behind it, each one placed by steady hands during a quiet hour after class. Building the row has been a team effort; Mira counted spaces while Leo measured height. They wanted a reliable chain that would impress their teacher without leaving a mess.
Late sunlight slid across the varnished surface, and a faint smell of glue mixed with warm dust from the chalk tray. The leading block struck a green marble, which rolled down a short cardboard ramp and tapped a plastic animal shaped like a turtle. The turtle toy slid, nose first, against a tin full of paper clips; the tin toppled, and silver clips scattered toward the open window latch. One clip caught the latch just enough to tilt it, and the window swung wider. Fresh wind rushed in, driving the clips farther so that a pencil on the edge began to move toward an ink bottle. Mira saw the bottle wobble. She braced one knee on a stool, slid two rulers across the gap, and pinned the pencil between them. Leo pressed his palm on the farther end, adding weight. The ink stayed upright, but the breeze still played along the rulers.
Both rulers now touched end to end like a narrow bridge they had built together. The trapped pencil rolled back and forth between their aligned edges, tracing shallow arcs across the wood while the wind kept testing the gap.
