English 原文
A hollow clang echoed beneath the platform roof as the arriving train nudged the buffer. Forrest shifted his stance to keep balance against the push of air and engine vibration. He and Greta stood inside the glass waiting shelter, their backpacks touching. Greta had marked the day as a milestone in her travel journal, and she lifted the little book for a quick photo before the doors opened. The edge slipped; Forrest tried to hold on to the bench for stability while catching it. The notebook brushed a dangling advertisement board. The board swung outward, tapped a tall stack of free newspapers, and sent the top bundle sliding. Pages fanned out and landed across the smooth bench surface. One loose sheet drifted under Greta’s boot just as she stepped back, twisting her ankle and tipping her water bottle out of its side pocket. The bottle rolled toward the shelter exit, gathering pace.
Forrest lunged, the shoulder strap of his bag tightening across his chest. The bottle struck the umbrella stand, toppled a folded umbrella, and both objects clattered onto the platform tiles. Their motion slowed, yet the umbrella’s handle bumped a suitcase parked by a stranger’s foot. The suitcase wheels began to turn, but a raised groove along the yellow edge acted as an adequate brake; the case wobbled, then stopped. Greta exhaled and stooped, fingers tingling from the quick stretch, lifting the umbrella first and sliding the bottle back into her pack. “That was an unexpected solution,” Forrest muttered, tapping the safety groove with his shoe as if thanking it. Doors hissed open at last, and the pair climbed aboard, shoulders brushing yet steady now.
On the opposite platform, a cleaner swept stray pages into a neat pile, each stroke sending faint tremors through the aluminum handle. A child waiting beside the trash bin tapped his shoe against the plastic container, loosening a half-empty soda can that had been balanced on top. The can rolled across the footbridge grille, clipped a railing post, spun once, and tipped over the edge. A hollow clang echoed along the metal grating.
