When the Spring Jumped-

English 原文
Warm hay mixed with lamb wool carried a grassy scent through the stable. A mild trace of oiled leather hung beneath it.
June dragged a wide rubber sheet toward two fence posts beside the barn. She planned a soft platform for evening stargazing, because the packed earth still held midday heat. The sheet stretched as she pulled, and the woven edges flexed like a slow wave. She looped one bungee cord around the first post, feeling the cord grow taut. Behind her, a young goat explored a worn spring hanging from an empty feed pail. Each curious nudge made the metal snake compress, then rebound with a playful twang.
June tightened the second cord. The goat’s final bump sent the loosened spring flying. It bounced against the pail, and the pail knocked the dangling cord on June’s side. The sudden jerk tugged the sheet before she tied the final knot, flipping one edge over her shoulder. An amazed sound left her throat as she spat out loose straw. She shifted her grip, folded the corner twice, and pressed a knee into the rubber for extra compression. The cords stopped quivering, yet the sheet now formed an unexpected shallow bowl. When twilight arrived, that bowl would hold a pool of stars from the vast night sky, turning a simple farm chore into a tiny window on the universe of amateur astronomy. June left the sheet in place and nudged the pail farther from the goat. Somewhere above the rafters, loose twine still swayed from the earlier jolt.
