English 原文
Cold grit pressed against Axel's gloved palm where the stone border met the cloudy ice. A mineral smell, like wet tin, rose from the frozen sheet, mixing with earthy dampness drifting from the sanded pavement. A few metres away Greta inhaled, wrinkling her nose at the sour trace seeping from meltwater near the edge. Two adults chatted by a bench, their coffee giving off a sweet roasted note; otherwise the morning air tasted clean. Axel aimed for the far bank, hoping for one smooth shuffle across the icy centre. He pushed off, boots scraping with a dusty rasp, but the embedded leaf formed a ridge that nudged his foot sideways.
Axel windmilled his arms until balance returned, and a metallic tang burst from scraping ice into the cold air. He stepped onto pavement smelling of dry cement, warm sand, and faint chalk, drawing slow breaths through the vinegar-sharp morning. Last weekend a community cleanup had swept the park, leaving neat bundles of broken sticks the volunteer sculptor piled beside the bench. Resin from those sticks still hung sharp and sweet, so Axel grabbed the longest for use as a balance pole. A curious sweet-pine smell drifted from the pole while Greta waited on the gritty border, mineral cold seeping around her boots. Axel returned to the ice, tasting air that carried an algae hint like a tidepool drying on granite. He placed the pole across his body and slid again, yet the stiff leaf caught his sole and twisted the boot inward.
Watery warmth collected around the leaf as sunlight climbed, and Axel began to wonder about removing that bump entirely. He crouched, bracing one hand on the pole, and used the other to tap the leaf until cracks whitened the cloudy ice. The layer above the leaf finally loosened, releasing a mild earthy smell from trapped water that had aged under many freeze-thaw nights. Greta slid forward as he lifted a hand, yet her heel punched through a soft spot, splashing cold water onto her sock. She hopped to the warm patch beside the sunlit wall, steam rising faintly as damp fabric met the heated stone. Axel shifted his grip on the pole and pushed toward the centre, the leaf gliding beneath his boot while meltwater shimmered ahead. A salty-metal taste floated up from the wet surface while Axel kept pressing the pole forward, knees flexed, boots still sliding.
