Unwilling to waste the opportunity, Kit dabbed the kitchen towel across the wet patch, then pressed the pencil again with a steadier wrist. Kit tapped the notebook spine once, and the thermal difference deepened the internal flow. Kit had prepared to leave everything untouched, yet the widening stain risked confusing later readings. She lifted the warm glass carefully, shifted it behind the cooler blue one, and tucked a fold of towel between base and window so the beam no longer struck it directly. The cascade eased: rising colour slowed, leaves straightened a little, and no fresh droplets gathered on the rim. A quiet puff of air slipped through the frame; earlier sunlight had already painted fresh data across the cloth. At the edge of the towel, a thin blush of red crept outward through the weave.
