Seeds Shaken by a Frog-

English 原文
A dry crackle skipped along the rafters, then faded into the dim shed air. Rafael paused, packets shifting in his hands, while Eve steadied the single magnifying glass beneath a narrow shaft of light that reached the potting bench like a glowing ruler. Dust drifted through the glare and gathered around a small, still lump between torn envelopes. At first the lump matched the shadowed wood grain so perfectly that both teenagers continued sorting—Rafael comparing vegetable packets, Eve separating flower ones. The adult gardener outside sprayed water over the beds; the hiss slid through the doorway. When another rustle followed, the lump twitched, unfolded slender legs, and revealed itself as a tiny frog no bigger than a thumb-nail.
Eve raised the lens, but Rafael’s fingers brushed hers; both needed the clear circle to examine faded seeds. The frog’s sudden leap scattered a cluster of snapdragon seeds into the glare, and several rolled into bench grooves where shadow pooled. A gentle tug passed the tool between them, yet the lens tipped, flashing light that made both blink. A thin beam had been trapped by dust on the window glass, so the glare shifted whenever they breathed. Nearby, a jar of fertiliser—dried plankton powder—teetered; the frog’s landing shook the bench and dusted the seeds. With a sprint no wider than a palm, the frog darted toward the window ledge, then froze inside the wedge of sunlight.
Rafael half-turned toward the herb-drying hook, ready to carry the visitor outside, yet Eve crouched and angled the lens, tapping the bench twice to keep its attention. The frog stayed within the bright strip, unmoving. Through the glass, the pattern on its skin mirrored the mottled snapdragon seeds so closely that their earlier mix-up finally made sense. Both teenagers exchanged a brief grin; each kept a handful of seeds yet allowed the creature its resting place on the warm sill. An outside breeze nudged the door, and loose dust drifted across the beam. Rafael was still holding the magnifying glass above the frog’s patterned back.
