The Seed Pod Clicks- 適合初學者的英語短篇故事

“What clicks under the bush?” Lena asks aloud. She kneels by the stone path. A heap of seed pods waits. Morning light looks pale yellow. Damp earth smells rich here. She lifts one smooth pod. It clicks in her hand. She lines it near a tree root. Another pod stays silent. She tilts it. Nothing moves. Lena practices a gentle tap. A faint click answers. She adds the pod to the row.

Dale sits on the back step drawing. A breeze flips a sketchbook page. A rough goat appears in charcoal. Next page shows a long donkey. Two young leaves land beside them. Dale smiles, “Nice sound.” The row of pods now stands straight. A last pod clicks.
