Orion carried a seed tray along the long hallway. Flora walked beside him, holding two small cups. He wanted to reach the big window at the end.

A dark patch made the floor moist near a plant. His foot slid, and the tray tilted to one side. Seeds scattered across the tiles and into a corner. A broom slipped from the wall and tapped a bucket. The bucket rolled, bumped a doorstop, and rattled noisily.

Orion set the tray on a bench and paused. Flora raised her eyebrows and pointed toward the mess. "I will get a towel," she said, and ran. Cool air came through the slightly open window.

They dried the patch and moved the mat over it. Orion stood firm, lifted the tray, and walked back. A herdsman passed outside with three sheep and a dog. One sheep pressed its nose to the glass and snorted. The tray wobbled, and Orion caught it with both hands. Flora laughed softly and held the bench steady. He slid the tray to the center of the ledge. Then he brushed the wet nose mark from the glass.
