Leo at the Workshop Door-

English 원문
Leo placed the final plank of his miniature bridge onto the workbench, eyebrows lifting in determined concentration. The town science fair offered prizes, yet he aimed simply to see a marble cross the span without tumbling. He had spent three evenings collecting toothpicks, string, and bottle caps, materials overlooked by classmates who preferred neat kits. His quirky habits surfaced at once; he tapped each cap, listening for a crisp ring before using it as a counterweight. However, the first test failed when the central arch sagged, and the marble slid sideways into a toolbox. A second attempt collapsed after glue dripped between joints that had been reinforced by hurried knots.
If Leo had accepted the noisy crashes as final verdicts, the prototype would have ended beside the toolbox. Instead, he observed how kinetic energy pushed the marble outward and how loose string tilted the roadway. Adaptability, he realized, belonged not only to wood that could bend when scored lightly. He reshaped two planks, slid fresh caps beneath them, and tested again; the marble wobbled but reached the halfway point. On the third attempt the bottle caps spun like tiny wheels, and the marble rolled across, shining under the desk lamp. Innovation had been squeezed from failure, not planning, and the workshop air echoed with quick applause from passing classmates. While he noted their surprised murmurs, he kept tightening knots. He remained certain the bridge still needed to navigate through challenges during transport. The small wooden bridge rested on the table, marbles still rolling in a gentle loop.
