Milo on the Crowded Footbridge-

English 원문
Milo balanced a bright cake box against his chest while walking toward River Street. He had promised to bring the cake before the afternoon bell, so time pressed from one side, and a restless market pressed from the other. Stalls crowded the pavement; baskets swung near his elbows. He has carried fragile boxes before, yet the river footbridge ahead looked narrower than ever. Milo tried to keep in mind the wobbly boards that have been replaced last month. A cool wind slid along the water, shaking paper lanterns and making ribbons flap. To improve his grip, he shifted the box, but the lid was lifted by the breeze. Milo chose to strive forward rather than wait beside a pepper stall.
He stepped onto the bridge just as a marching band turned the corner unexpectedly. Cymbals clashed, and people swirled toward the rail, leaving him no space. Crowd pressure and wind now formed twin hurdles, and ordinary walking would fail. Milo crouched slightly, letting his body shield the box, then he pushed the lid under his arm, forming a steady wall against the gusts. At the same time, he angled his shoulder through a gap beside a tuba, using the band’s slow rhythm to pace each careful step. The surprise came when a drummer noticed nothing and struck a sudden beat; the vibration rattled the boards, but the cake stayed level. Overcoming both squeeze and wind felt like a small achievement once the far bank opened, and the box rested untouched on a stone bench.
