Marco carried his sketchbook to the river bank after breakfast.

The narrow path crossed a woodland where morning light sifted between quiet branches.

He has already filled several pages with birds, yet water scenery remained blank.

Today he wanted a fresh scene before clouds thickened above the hills.

A low fern brushed his knee as he stepped onto a flat stone.

Warm sunlight gleamed across the lush water surface, and bright reflections danced.

He settled, fixed a sheet, and started outlining ripples with careful strokes.

A hungry squirrel landed beside him and eyed the shining metal pencil case.

Before Marco added color, the squirrel snatched a yellow pencil and bolted.

Several sticks have been knocked over, and eraser crumbs scattered across the stone.

He lunged forward, but a light drizzle started, turning every line on the page soggy.

Two problems now challenged the drawing: missing color and wet paper.

Marco paused; his shoulders lowered while raindrops tapped the river surface.

He slipped the soggy sheet into his bag and flipped to a dry page.

Thick charcoal, which rain could not blur quickly, replaced the missing pencil.

Surprise arrived when the squirrel returned, dropped the yellow stick, and hid under the fern.

Marco laughed and pressed bold strokes across the page.

The scene became a visual feast of gray and gold swirls.

Rain eased, charcoal dried fast, and the finished sketch rested safely on the stone.

馬可笑著，在紙上猛畫粗線，畫面成為灰金交織的視覺盛宴。

雨勢減弱，炭筆迅速乾燥，完成的素描安穩地停在石頭上。
