Leo pulled the crate under the beam with slow steps.

Dust rose and tickled his throat as he climbed up.

Light from small windows lay across his shirt sleeves.

He pressed one foot down, and the crate creaked softly.

The wood cracked; the crate slipped toward a hanging bucket.

The bucket swung, struck the wall, and scattered fresh nails.

Nails bounced across boards and rolled into dusty corners.

Leo lost balance; his heel bumped the barn door latch.

The door swung wide, pulling warm sunlight onto the floor.

Sunlight fell on the rolling nails and revealed a bright dotted path.
