English 원문
Sun angled through the small kitchen window, catching dust over a chrome teapot warming above the low flame. Nora had planned a simple weekend routine of toast, local cuisine samples, and background music from an old tabletop player. The device, however, now lay open on the counter; its mainboard was scarred where batteries had leaked months earlier. Leo rolled up his sleeves, set a screwdriver down, and nodded toward a small box of spare parts. "If we finish before the water boils, breakfast gains a soundtrack," he said while lowering the magnifying glass.
Solder smoke curled, yet the first joint cracked as soon as Nora tapped it with tweezers. She had already cleaned the contacts, but residue still glistened like tiny mirrors along the copper lines. Several copper pads had been lifted by previous repairs, and their edges curled like dry leaves. Leo clipped a fresh battery against the rails, hoping to jumpstart the lazy circuit; nothing pulsed under the tester. A gust outside rattled loose blinds; in the brief draft, cinnamon drifted from cooling pastries and mixed with metallic tin. Nora tried bridging the broken trace with wire; the strand slipped twice and scorched her thumbnail on the third drop. If Leo had noticed a hairline crack near the chipset earlier, he would have replaced the whole board without hesitation.
The teapot whistled sharply, its lid jittering; steam fogged the workspace and dampened the still-warm solder. At that moment, a tiny spark hopped from the battery lead to the mainboard and a single speaker crackled alive. Instead of music, a hurried voice listed ingredients for distant street cuisine before fading beneath static and silence. Nora laughed once, then unplugged the sighing kettle; droplets danced across the hot ring and hissed onto the tiles. Smoke from the last failed joint drifted upward, mixing with steam until both traces of effort thinned and vanished near the vent. Tools lay scattered on the counter while the half-open player rested beside the cooling teapot.
