Soft morning light lay across a wide meadow.

A young rabbit hopped near the tall grass border.

Warm air brushed his whiskers while earth scents rose upward.

One sweet smell pointed to a buried plant under loose soil.

His paws worked to reach the crisp root hidden below.

A flat stone stopped his claws after only two scrapes.

He pushed again, and the stone slipped toward a dry twig.

The twig cracked; loose nuts tumbled from a forgotten hole.

Nuts rolled downhill, clicking over pebbles into an ant trail.

The insects began to gather each small piece of food.

Their patient march cleared the space beside the buried root.

Now nothing blocked the rabbit or the soft brown soil.

He dug again, dirt jumping behind his quick hind legs.

Soon the crisp root lay free on the open ground.

He carried it toward a shaded patch under tall ferns.

The morning stayed quiet; only low crunches filled the patch.

Light shifted higher while empty shells dotted the soil behind him.

The rabbit twitched an ear and hopped deeper into the meadow.
