English 원문
A bent spoon, a tin-can lid, and two wooden beads swung from the silver-flecked branch while an adult nearby turned a page of a book. Boris crouched at the supply box on the blanket; Otto waited in the wind-test zone, holding a small brass key that once belonged to a broken gadget. The boys planned a breezy makeover for the branch, yet the sound mix already felt crowded. Behind the trunk, where the air lay almost stagnant, Boris compared the key’s bright ping to the clay disc’s dull click. The branch had been chosen because it hung low enough for their reach, and the whole display was ready for an overhaul.
Otto lifted the key and, on the next gust, looped its string beside the spoon. The metallic pitches merged into one high blur, so he shifted his stance, drawing the knot two fingers farther along the bark. The blur vanished; two clear tones rang like short notes on a steel bridge. If the wind picked up, the key would strike the spoon twice instead of once—exactly what Boris wanted. Then a stronger swirl arrived without warning, and the fresh key tangled with the bottle-cap chime, freezing both pieces mid-swing. Their fix for the key had stolen motion from the cap.
Boris exhaled, stepped onto the warm grass, and pinched a blue-grey lollipop stick from the box. He slid it between the cap string and the key string, the flat wood acting as a tiny bridge that kept them apart but also weighed the cap down. The cap now moved less, yet its soft thock remained, and the key still rang. Otto shortened the spoon’s string to match the lowered cap; the spoon now chimed quietly, though it struck on every breeze. Both friends stepped back to the listening position. A thin shimmer of overlapping notes lingered, then slipped into a faint hush that hovered above the grass.
