English 원문
Soap drops flicked from Stella’s wire hoop into the bucket just as Drake stepped onto the lawn, and a ginger cat lounging near the table twitched its ears at the sudden splash. The low table wobbled slightly under the weight of the shared equipment, and the coat-hanger hoop in Drake’s hand felt cold and a bit rough at one soldered corner. He lowered the large ring, but the solution level reached only three quarters of its depth; the top edge emerged dry and the forming film tore at once. Stella passed him a drinking straw already wet with the mix. One drop coated the bumpy spot, yet the next lift still revealed a long transparent scar that climbed and burst. A mild breeze brushed their arms and carried the escaped droplets toward a peace lily in a clay pot whose fresh leaves showed an optimism of bright green.
Drake tried again. He had poured a spoonful of thicker liquid scooped from the bucket’s lower layer onto the stubborn joint; the extra glycerine clung like clear syrup. A second drop followed, sliding along the metal groove; together the two drops smoothed most of the ridge but left a narrow pit. When a third silvery bead joined them, the surface finally rounded off. The next lift changed at once: colours began to unfold across an unbroken square of soap, bands of bronze and violet descending like slow curtains. The cat’s tail, full of casual charm, brushed a small circular frame hanging on the table edge. Metal rang against plastic, the circle plunged into the bucket, and a shallow wave raced over the rim. The rolling sheet of solution streamed across the wood and dripped toward Stella’s open sketchbook.
Drake swung the bucket sideways, blocking the flow before the page became soggy; the displaced puddle lost speed across the grass and soaked into the earth beneath the peace lily instead. Hours later, after the two friends and the curious cat had left, dusk softened the garden. The sketchbook lay closed and dry on a higher shelf, the pot’s soil looked damp, and a narrow ribbon of soap still crept along the bucket’s outer wall, sliding drop by drop onto the darkening ground.
